About Us
The Club was founded on the 13th April 1983 by George & Violet Scott, and a short time later son Geoff joined in.
George was a well known & respected local snooker player. He had ad a dream for over 30 years to open a snooker club as George spent most of his time playing in Billiard Halls as they where known it the 1940’s & 50’s.
George started playing snooker a very small boy standing on a box so he could reach the table. As a young man he soon reached a very high standard & as it was known in those days became a bit of a hustler
George also entering competitions like the Liverpool Open, Lancashire, Inter Counties & English Armature Championships George also represented England on a number of occasions along side people like Steve Davis, Joe Johnson, Geoff Folds & Ray Edmonds in 1982 at the age of 54 George turned professional and reach to number 38 in the world (you wouldn’t get that now) at one time he was the second oldest professional snooker player next the great Joe Davies
Sadly in September 1998 George lost a long battle against Cancer we make sure that his name and dream lives on and renamed the Club from The Liverpool Billiards & Snooker Club to THE GEORGE SCOTT SNOOKER CLUB
The Club has been Merseyside Billiards & Snooker Association headquarters for many years and the late Ted Robinson
